Thank you for taking the time to sit with us. Would you mind kicking things off by sharing a little bit about you and your business?
Tyrone Parker’s journey from Jamaica to serving his community through Jingles Jamaican Kuisine Food Truck is inspiring. His background as a veteran and former law enforcement officer adds to his commitment to service, and his passion for authentic Jamaican cooking brings people together through great food such as jerk chicken, jerk pork, jerk salmon, jerk shimp, curry goat, escovitch fish, and much more.
So, can you tell us a little bit about your menu and the story behind why you chose this niche?
Jingles Jamaican Kuisine offers a menu that’s as vibrant and authentic as Tyrone Parker’s own journey. The food truck serves up a variety of traditional Jamaican dishes that reflect the flavors of the island and the culinary wisdom passed down through his sisters and aunts. Here are some highlights and insights into both the menu and the story behind the niche:
The Menu
Jerk Chicken & Jerk Pork: Signature items featuring the spicy, smoky flavors characteristic of Jamaican jerk seasoning. These dishes are marinated with a blend of herbs and spices and then slow-cooked to perfection.
Curried Goat: A classic favorite in Jamaican cuisine, this dish offers tender meat simmered in a rich, aromatic curry sauce.
Ackee and Saltfish: Embracing one of Jamaica’s national dishes, this combination delivers a savory mix of textures and flavors, perfect for those seeking an authentic taste of the island.
Sides and Accompaniments: Expect traditional sides like rice and peas, festival (a sweet fried dough), plantains, and perhaps Jamaican patties.
The Story Behind the Niche
Tyrone’s choice to focus on authentic Jamaican cuisine is deeply personal. Growing up in Jamaica, he absorbed the rich culinary traditions from family gatherings where his grandmother, sister and aunts would share their best-kept cooking secrets. Their influence instilled in him a passion for the bold and comforting flavors of Jamaican cooking.
After serving his community as a veteran and law enforcement officer, Tyrone saw an opportunity to give back in a new way. By launching Jingles Jamaican Kuisine, he not only brings a taste of his homeland to a broader audience but also creates a space where community members can gather, share, and celebrate authentic cultural flavors. His food truck isn’t just about serving food—it’s about preserving and sharing a heritage, one delicious dish at a time.
This blend of culinary heritage, personal history, and community service is what makes Jingles Jamaican Kuisine truly unique and beloved by its patrons. In addition, thanks to his chef Kyle Robinson, Jamaican born and raised; and to his cashier Ena Doughty Jamaican born and raised.
So, everyone wants that secret info that no one else knows. Can you share a fact about you or your business that most people might not know?
Jingles came from Tyrone been in the military living in Japan. He use to carry a lot of coins in his pockets to pay for his train rides. The sounds from the coins in his pockets make a jingling sounds hence derived the name Jingles given to him by one of his dearest friends Alrick Haase.
